Warehorne is a wonderful peaceful village to escape to in Kent, especially if you are searching for some relaxation in nature whilst spending the night in one of our five stunning suites.

We are so lucky to be surrounded by the beautiful Marsh Countryside, perfect for a stroll, or for the keen walkers among us!

We sit on the famous Military Canal, built between 1804 & 1809 as a defence against the invasion of Napoleon. It runs 28 miles, linking Hythe to Cliff End in East Sussex. It really is a beautiful walk and highly recommended.

Wonderful Walks from The Woolpack

The Woolpack Inn sits within beautiful rolling Kent countryside and is only a short distance from the Romney Marsh, famous for its salt marsh lamb and bordered by The Royal Military Canal. Renowned Kent vineyards such as Ham Street Wines, Warehorne vineyard and Gusbourne winery are also within walking distance from the pub, all of which are represented on The Woolpack wine list and offer wine tours of their vineyards to visitors.

Why not try one of our favourite routes and take a long loop heading to Appledore village via Gusbourne Vineyard? You’ll find full details below…

Back at the pub, which is surrounded by Romney sheep, settle down to a drink by the fire or a Sunday roast. PUBBY CREDS: This 16th-century Kentish inn is opposite a church where Romney Marsh sheep (and lambs, if you time it right) can be seen grazing.

THE BOOZE: Weekly-changing local craft and cask guest beers, plus Kentish Pip cider. English fizz including Gusbourne and Chapel Down from Kent, and an extensive British gin list. Plenty of low-and-no options too.

delicious.
"… At The Woolpack, you will find five characterful bedrooms plus inglenook fireplaces, low beams, welly racks and seasonal menus."
Inspired by Ridley Scott’s Napoleon? Then take a walk along the Royal Military Canal, built 1804-1809 as a defence against invasion by the Little Corporal; a Kink was made every 500m so cannons could cover each section. Fairly flat and easily navigable. it is accessible from Warehorne’s 16th-century Woolpack Inn. Walk from there to the old village of Appledore via the Saxon Shore Way, past Kenardington’s St Mary’s Church, built on the site of a Saxon fort. Return along the canal’s grassy banks, looking out for kingfishers, herons and Second World War pillboxes. Back at The Woolpack, you will find five characterful bedrooms plus inglenook fireplaces, low beams, welly racks and seasonal menus.
